Dark Star Dog Training
Dark Star Dog Training is a husband and wife team, Jason and Liz, based near Shrewsbury.
Jason is a qualified and accredited canine behaviourist and dog trainer with more than ten years' experience, and a Licentiate member of the Pet Dog Training Instructors (PDTI). He is a former police hostage and crisis negotiator and holds a Masters degree in human psychology, which helps him understand the people as well as the dogs. Liz also worked with the police and has extensive experience of working with people.
We own three cocker spaniels, Dodger, Pip and Fizz, who work during the shooting season and often help as demonstrators. Jason is DBS checked, qualified in dog first aid and fully insured, and we were awarded a Prestige Award for Dog Training Service of the Year in Central England 2026/27. A percentage of our profits goes to police mental health support charities.

As owners of three cocker spaniels, pet gundogs that work during the shooting season, we understand the complexities that dog ownership can bring. Whether you have a new puppy, need help with training or have a behavioural problem, we can help.
Where appropriate our dogs, Dodger, Pip and Fizz act as demonstrators or as distractions to help us to help you get the best out of your dog.

Went to Jason to start the journey with my dog training her to be a gundog. He has a great understanding of dogs, and really helps you understand how to make the dog work with you. Really helpful knowledgeable guy, will definitely be back for more training with him.

Fabulous informative and enjoyable training session with Jason giving us some great basic gundog techniques to practice with our 7 month working cocker, and the follow-up video as a reminder, and to keep us on track is invaluable, will definitely be booking more sessions.
